I buy and sell charcoal, and through this business I am able to provide for my family, even when we don\u2019t have mealie meal at home,\u201d Hilda Soko, a charcoal trader, said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Eunice Munachonga, who trades in second-hand clothes (salaula), said self-empowerment has helped her remain resilient despite business challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Munachonga appealed for increased government support through skills training and empowerment funds.<\/p>\n<p>And Local Government Gender Equality Committee Chairperson, Mrs Annie Kalamatila, said empowerment programmes were available through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the country prepares to commemorate International Women\u2019s Day on March 8, 2026, women entrepreneurs in local markets have called on fellow women to embrace self-reliance and financial independence.
