Isoka, June 10, 2025, ZANIS — Over 100 residents of Isoka District of Muchinga Province have been enrolled under the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) Skills Bursary Programme at Isoka Trades Training Institute.<\/p>\n
The development is part of government\u2019s efforts to equip citizens with vocational skills for improved livelihoods.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), Isoka Trades Training Institute Principal, Cephas Kangwa, said more than 50 beneficiaries have already reported for the three-month training which has since commenced.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are offering training in General Agriculture, Electrical, Mechanics, Bricklaying, and Design and Tailoring,\u201d Mr Kangwa said.<\/p>\n
He highlighted that the programme is open to everyone, including youths, women, and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n
Mr Kangwa added that the bursary covers full tuition and is aimed at reducing unemployment by providing practical skills that can lead to self-employment and job creation.<\/p>\n
Linda Sinkala, a lecturer at Isoka Trades, urged more women and persons with disabilities to take advantage of the bursary opportunity.<\/p>\n
\u201cSkills training is for everyone, we want to see more participation from women and those differently abled,” she said.<\/p>\n
She noted the importance of inclusive education, stating that the institution is making efforts to accommodate diverse learners.<\/p>\n
And Grace Mulenga, a beneficiary, said the bursary has allowed her to pursue tailoring and design despite her age.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis chance has given me purpose, at 60 years old, I can now become a tailor,” she said.<\/p>\n
Another beneficiary, Fred Sinkala, who is undertaking a course in Bricklaying and Plastering, said he plans to use the skills to start a small business.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese skills will help me build and earn a living,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
