Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Alex Mapushi has advised civil servants in Luangwa District to remain professional and loyal\u00a0to the government of the day as the general election nears .<\/p>\n
Addressing Heads of Government Departments,\u00a0before he\u00a0visited some fields that were flooded by flash floods,\u00a0Mr Mapushi called on workers to focus on fostering development,\u00a0as Luangwa is becoming an advanced border town due to its proximity to Lusaka City.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government is working on construction of a bridge across the Zambezi River to enhance trade and other movements between the two countries, and this will attract a lot of tourism activities that will make the town a busy town,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He further advised the\u00a0Local Authority’s\u00a0planning unit\u00a0to\u00a0properly organise township infrastructure and prevent disorganization across the district.<\/p>\n
Mr Mapushi also toured flood-affected fields, assuring farmers of government\u2019s commitment to providing winter cropping inputs to combat hunger.<\/p>\n
And Luangwa District Commissioner, Luke Chikani said low -lying\u00a0fields were mostly affected by floods, while highland fields were\u00a0infested by fall armyworms, a situation he described as destructive.<\/p>\n
District Marketing Development Officer, Mwangala Mwangala confirmed pesticides have been received and distributed to the affected farmers.<\/p>\n
