{"id":2051,"date":"2026-01-28T00:05:04","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T22:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2026-01-28T00:09:55","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T22:09:55","slug":"mwale-ready-for-wbc-bout-against-tz-opponent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=2051","title":{"rendered":"MWALE READY FOR WBC BOUT AGAINST TZ OPPONENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World Boxing Council International Champion David \u201cSniper\u201d Mwale says he is not under pressure to defend his title ahead of the WBC International fight against Tanzanian boxer Ramadan Milonzi on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Government Complex in Lusaka.<\/p>\n<p>Mwale has expressed confidence and readiness for his title defense, assuring fans that he is fully prepared for the challenge and that he will use his \u201cmosquito punch\u201d on his opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a press conference in Lusaka, Mwale said every fighter trains to win and never for defeat, adding that he was pleased his opponent also declared readiness for the bout.<\/p>\n<p>He called on boxing fans to turn up in large numbers on Saturday, to witness what he described as a new and exciting fighting approach.<\/p>\n<p>ZANIS reports that Mwale further revealed that he will introduce what he termed a \u201cmosquito style\u201d during the fight, but declined to give further details, saying the strategy will be revealed in the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Mwale also played down concerns about his opponent\u2019s preparations, stating that he has studied his rival\u2019s previous fights and remains focused on executing his own game plan.<\/p>\n<p>David \u201cSniper\u201d Mwale\u2019s opponent, Ramadhan Milonzi, has declared himself ready for the fight, stating that he is in Zambia to take the WBC International title back to Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions coach Mike Zulu says Mwale is fully prepared for the upcoming title defense, following an intensive six-month training camp.<\/p>\n<p>Zulu however, described the bout as tough but fair, adding that the team understands what is at stake going into the contest, saying defending the title is a major responsibility and assured boxing fans that the champion is ready to rise to the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>And Ramadhan Milonzi\u2019s coach, Salim Mtepetallah also said his boxer is fully prepared to challenge champion David Mwale and is confident of returning home with the belt.<\/p>\n<p>Mtepetallah said the Milonzi camp has thoroughly studied the champion and made adequate preparations to contend for the title, stressing that success in boxing depends on three key factors such as proper training, the boxer\u2019s ability to apply skills learned during training and mental strength.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Manager Christopher Malunga disclosed that the fight will be supported by seven other bouts on a budget of K881, 000, with a deficit of K350, 000.<\/p>\n<p>Malunga disclosed that the new sponsor has come to sponsor Saturday\u2019s bout, further commending the government through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts for their continued support for boxing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Boxing Council International Champion David \u201cSniper\u201d Mwale says he is not under pressure to defend his title ahead of the WBC International fight against Tanzanian boxer Ramadan Milonzi on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Government Complex in Lusaka.
