Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, has announced significant progress in its nationwide aerial mineral mapping survey, which has reached 52.8% completion.<\/p>\n

Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta has announced that the high-resolution airborne geophysical survey is modernising the country\u2019s geological database and opening new frontiers for exploration, particularly in previously under-explored regions.<\/p>\n

“The survey is a key component of Zambia\u2019s strategy to position itself as a premier destination for mining investment. With abundant copper reserves and emerging critical minerals like cobalt, lithium, and nickel, the country is poised to play a pivotal role in the global energy transition,” Dr Kabeta adds.<\/p>\n

He made these remarks during a courtesy call on him by Swiss Ambassador to Zambia St\u00e9phane Rey, at the Ministry Headquarters yesterday.<\/p>\n

“Zambia offers policy stability, transparency, and protection of private investments, making it attractive for both large- and small-scale mining ventures,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Dr Kabeta further stated that the government is forging partnerships with reputable mining firms to accelerate exploration, value-addition, and technology transfer, ensuring sustainable practices and community benefits.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued to ZANIS by the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, Public Relations Unit, Swiss Ambassador to Zambia, St\u00e9phane Rey, expressed optimism about Zambia’s investment potential, highlighting the country’s strong ties with Switzerland.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Rey remarked, “Zambia’s strategic location, rich natural resources, and growing economy make it an attractive destination for Swiss investors.”<\/p>\n

The Ambassador also briefed the Permanent Secretary on the upcoming visit by Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda to Zambia, noting that it will further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n
