<\/p>\nFrance has expressed interest in partnering with Zambia to develop the mining sector, offering expertise, loans, and technical support.<\/p>\n
French Ambassador to Zambia, Thomas Rossignol, has acknowledged Zambia’s desire to process raw materials locally for value addition, aligning with the country’s 8th National Development Plan.<\/p>\n
Mr Rossignol says France is interested in supporting sustainable mining practices, skills development, and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Rossignol adds that he is confident in Zambia’s mining potential, stating the rich mineral resources and a skilled workforce.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued to ZANIS by the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, Public Relations Unit, the French Ambassador indicated that concrete proposals for cooperation and investment are expected in the coming months.<\/p>\n
And, Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary, Hapenga Kabeta, welcomed France\u2019s interest in investing in the country\u2019s mining sector, citing a stable political climate, abundant resources, and strategic location.<\/p>\n

Dr Kabeta further credited France’s role in Zambia’s debt restructuring, saying it has boosted the country\u2019s economic growth to 6.5%.<\/p>\n
He assured that Zambia is committed to creating a conducive business environment, with plans to unlock its full potential.<\/p>\n
The discussions also explored France\u2019s investment in Zambia’s energy sector, particularly solar and hydropower, to support mining and enhance energy security.<\/p>\n
