{"id":1746,"date":"2026-01-19T11:09:42","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T09:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1746"},"modified":"2026-01-19T11:09:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T09:09:42","slug":"gwembe-cdf-projects-commissioned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1746","title":{"rendered":"GWEMBE CDF PROJECTS COMMISSIONED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gwembe Town Council has commissioned three infrastructure projects at Halumamba Community School at a cost of over\u00a0K1.9 million using\u00a0the\u00a0Constituency Development Funds (CDF).<\/p>\n<p>The project includes a 1&#215;3 classroom block with 60 desks, a water reticulation system, and a modern ablution block.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event,\u00a0Gwembe Member of Parliament Tyson Simuzingili said\u00a0the new infrastructure\u00a0represents part of the government&#8217;s continued commitment to improving education infrastructure in rural and underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p>Mr\u00a0Simuzingili\u00a0added that the facilities will reduce the long distance of about 10 kilometres\u00a0that\u00a0learners previously covered to access\u00a0the nearest\u00a0school.<\/p>\n<p>He said the development aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema\u2019s directive to improve learning conditions in schools\u00a0and reduce congestion in classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEducation is the backbone of national development\u00a0and\u00a0government\u00a0remains\u00a0committed to ensuring that children in Gwembe have access to decent learning facilities just like those in urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>We thank CDF for this development; it is an investment in the future of our children and our economy,\u201d Mr Simuzingili said.<\/p>\n<p>And He urged the people of Gwembe through their Ward Development Committees (WDCs), to apply for upgrading of other existing community Schools through CDF.<\/p>\n<p>Gwembe District Commissioner Killion Chikandula reaffirmed the government&#8217;s resolve to improve social services in the district, stating that the inclusion of water and sanitation facilities in schools, and health infrastructure is critical for learners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the pronouncement by President Hakainde Hichilema that schools and Health facilities being constructed under CDF should meet the standards of having a water reticulation system and an ablution block with running water has now been achieved at Halumamba primary school,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Gwembe Council Chairperson Collet Ndlovu said the local authority would continue to work closely with cooperating partners to address infrastructure challenges in schools and health facilities across the district.<\/p>\n<p>And District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Mumbe Simusokwe, described the project as a major boost to education delivery in the area, noting that Halumamba Primary School had for years struggled with inadequate classroom space and limited water and sanitation facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis infrastructure will greatly enhance effective teaching and learning.
