The\u00a0Ministry of Education\u00a0has\u00a0called\u00a0on all public schools\u00a0across\u00a0the country not to force parents to buy uniforms from schools for their children.<\/p>\n
Ministry of Education Assistant Director\u00a0and Head of\u00a0Communications,\u00a0Kunda Mando, says the free education policy aims\u00a0to\u00a0remove\u00a0burdens\u00a0like\u00a0school fees\u00a0and other\u00a0requisites\u00a0to ensure more access\u00a0education.<\/p>\n
In a statement to ZANIS, Ms Mando stressed that the free education policy ensures that there are no fees, including, examination, feeding or user fees, to be charged to parents or pupils, stating that frustrating the policy is detrimental to the government\u2019s vision.<\/p>\n
\u201cMinistry of Education gives grants to schools every term to ensure that schools are running sustainably, and therefore, government does not expect any teacher, Headteacher or school administration to charge for uniforms or any other school requirements,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n
She says school authorities should allow parents to buy uniforms for the children from places they can afford, provided they follow the correct color and design of the school uniform for that particular school.<\/p>\n
Ms Mando has underscored that government\u2019s vision\u00a0is\u00a0to see that every child in Zambia has access to free education without any hindrance from school authorities or anyone in society.<\/p>\n
