{"id":1485,"date":"2025-12-01T09:02:54","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T09:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1485"},"modified":"2025-12-01T09:02:54","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T09:02:54","slug":"rising-motorbike-accidents-in-rufunsa-irks-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1485","title":{"rendered":"Rising motorbike accidents in Rufunsa irks government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Government has expressed concern over the increasing number of motorbike accidents in Rufunsa\u00a0district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata says the rise in accidents is largely due to untrained and unlicensed individuals operating motorbikes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms Mulyata said this in a speech read on her behalf by\u00a0Rufunsa District Commissioner Richard Mabena during the mobile motorbike license issuance and training exercise,<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She said the exercise is\u00a0aimed at\u00a0equipping\u00a0riders with essential knowledge to reduce avoidable accidents in the district\u00a0adding that it is\u00a0important\u00a0to\u00a0obtain a license,\u00a0as\u00a0it is a demonstration of valuing one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBy getting licensed, you are telling your loved ones that you value your lives, and\u00a0will\u00a0do everything in your power to return home safely to them every single day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your life is your most valuable asset. Protect it\u201d,\u00a0said Ms Mulyata.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ZANIS reports that Ms Mulyata\u00a0appealed to motorbike riders without licenses to take advantage of the ongoing exercise\u00a0and\u00a0urged them to go through the process, learn the rules, pass the test, and become certified, responsible riders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She further encouraged riders with expired licenses to\u00a0have them\u00a0renewed\u00a0rather than waiting to be found at a police checkpoint.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEncourage your friends and colleagues to get licensed. Wear your helmet every single time. Do not overload your bike. Be visible on the road, especially at night. Your life is more important than any extra fare you can charge\u201d,\u00a0she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Mulyata also urged RTSA officers to conduct the exercise with efficiency, professionalism, and a human face, ensuring that procedures are clearly explained and that assistance is given to those in need.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Siverest RTSA Station Manager Clement Chibabwa called on riders to cooperate as they receive guidance on licensing procedures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr Chibabwa affirmed RTSA&#8217;s commitment to offering quality training on road safety and issuing of licences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And speaking on behalf of the cyclists, Mainza Muleya thanked the government for the\u00a0exercise,\u00a0noting\u00a0that many riders previously operated without licenses, putting\u00a0their lives and others at risk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has expressed concern over the increasing number of motorbike accidents in Rufunsa\u00a0district.
