{"id":1416,"date":"2025-11-26T07:31:20","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T07:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2025-11-26T07:31:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T07:31:20","slug":"lewanika-general-health-workers-commended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=1416","title":{"rendered":"Lewanika General health workers commended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minister of\u00a0Health Elijah Muchima has hailed personnel at Lewanika General Hospital\u00a0in Mongu district in Western Province\u00a0for their commitment to duty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr\u00a0Muchima says health services are\u00a0critical to national development, emphasising that the country cannot develop without health personnel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He\u00a0was speaking\u00a0to\u00a0Journalists at Mongu\u00a0Airport enroute to Shang&#8217;ombo\u00a0district ahead of\u00a0the Child\u00a0Health\u00a0Week commemorations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Muchima disclosed that the government is committed to uplifting the welfare of people in the country through construction of health infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Minister\u00a0revealed that\u00a0the government is working hard\u00a0to improve the health of the\u00a0people, which includes those that are found in the remotest part of the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He\u00a0added that the\u00a0government has procured\u00a0four health\u00a0scanning machines that are expected to be distributed\u00a0to\u00a0Mwandi,\u00a0Nalolo, Mongu and Sesheke\u00a0districts\u00a0in Western Province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Minister is optimistic that once the machines are distributed\u00a0to the\u00a0health care centres,\u00a0they will improve health\u00a0service\u00a0delivery in the\u00a0province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Muchima pointed out that handwork is\u00a0a cornerstone in any profession, adding that it is a prime base through which a civil servant is evaluated and has since asked medical personnel in the province to remain steadfast in exhibiting high levels of commitment towards work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He\u00a0also cautioned civil servants involved in active politics to resign or\u00a0risk facing disciplinary actions or dismissal from the service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And Western Province Health Director Samutumwa Njekwa told the Minister that Lewanika General Hospital has in recent years recorded\u00a0unprecedented infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Njekwa said\u00a0that\u00a0the increased number\u00a0of\u00a0medical equipment supplied to the hospital such as\u00a0x-ray, scanning machines and also the\u00a0construction of\u00a0the\u00a0Oxygen plant at Lewanika General Hospital, has reduced referral cases to the\u00a0University Teaching Hospital\u00a0in Lusaka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of\u00a0Health Elijah Muchima has hailed personnel at Lewanika General Hospital\u00a0in Mongu district in Western Province\u00a0for their commitment to duty.
