Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Commissioner, Ndiyoi Mutiti, is impressed with the way the mass voter registration exercise is progressing in Chongwe district.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Mutiti, who led some\u00a0ECZ\u00a0officials\u00a0to\u00a0monitor\u00a0the exercise in\u00a0Chongwe district, appreciated\u00a0the progress of the exercise saying the achievement\u00a0is\u00a0commendable.<\/p>\n

She thanked the District Registration Officer, Damson Mukwato, for making efforts to ensure that all voter registration activities in the area are effectively implemented.<\/p>\n
\n
Ms Mutiti also visited the voter registration centres at the Civic Centre, Mphango, Silverest and Chongwe primary school.<\/p>\n
\n
Meanwhile, Mr Mukwato disclosed that\u00a059,747 new voters, out of the target of 72,666 assigned by the ECZ, have since been registered in Chongwe district.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that there has been a positive response from residents in the area\u00a0following the 15 days extension of the voter\u00a0registration exercise.<\/p>\n
\n
“The extension has resulted in a positive turnout by members of the public and I am confident that\u00a0Chongwe district will surpass the target figure of 72,666 by the end of this period,”\u00a0Mr Mukwato said.<\/p>\n

He added that\u00a014, 502 new registrations have been recorded in the area with 45,241 updates, bringing the total of registrations to 59,747 in the past seven phases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
