His Majesty King Litunga Lubosi Imwiko the Second has implored people to engage themselves in different farming activities in order to boost food security in the province.
Speaking at Kahumbu Palace Ground through his representative, Ngambela Mukela Manyando when he concluded his four days’ tour of Nkeyema, Kaoma and Luampa Districts, Litunga said Western Province was hit by the drought but now people have harvested.
“I urge all of your area Indunas and your people to ensure that you take farming activities seriously so that we produce more food for consumption and some for sale. We have enough land that we can grow various crops,” Ngambela Manyando said.
And the traditional leader has also advised people to acknowledge and respect the traditional authority for smooth traditional operation in the province.
Ngambela Manyando further said His Majesty the Litunga is in charge of the traditional authority in the province as such his subjects and all district chiefs should let people know the boundaries and authority as prescribed by the traditional norms.
The traditionalist said the Barotse Royal Establishment at the helm recognises Chieftaincy Mwanatete Luampa, Mbanga Lubosi Yeta as Senior Chief for Kaoma and Justin Kahare as the Chief for Nkeyema Districts respectively.
“My message to you all who are gathered here at Kahumbu Palace Ground as you witness the Litunga concluding his visit of the three regions where he came to interact with everyone is to ensure that we be disciplined and observe our tradition and culture in our various places,” Ngambela Manyando emphasised.
His Majesty the Litunga is pleased with the warm welcome shown during his four days’ tour and his hope is also to come back someday and continue sharing your traditional values and culture with everyone,” he said.
Meanwhile, a Kaoma District senior citizen, Kakenenwa Lubasi said the visit of His Majesty the Litunga has brought harmony among the people in the district.
Mr Lubasi said the visit of His Majesty the Litunga is long overdue as people yearned for him.
“We have young people who don’t know him now. People will be able to mingle freely with him and share their views’’, he said.
His Majesty the Litunga has since concluded his four days’ tour of meeting with his subjects and civil servants in all the three regions of the Upangoma principality in the province.
