North-Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Luckson Mulumbi has urged motorbike riders to adhere to road traffic regulations.
ZANIS reports that Mr Mulumbi has expressed concern on the number of accidents involving motorbikes and called for concerted efforts to prevent such calamities.
Speaking when he addressed motorbike riders during the opening of a Motorbike Showroom by TVS Zamoto Manufacturing Limited in Solwezi, Mr Mulumbi stated that accidents have a negative impact on individuals, families and the country at large.
“Lives have been lost and cut short because of motorbike accidents,” he noted.
Mr Mulumbi said some accidents can be prevented if road users adhere to road traffic rules and use protective gear on the road.
He commended TVS Zamoto Manufacturing Limited for considering the welfare of motorbike riders by including a road safety training component for them.
Mr Mulumbi said the initiative is critical in enhancing road safety.
