The construction of a mortuary at Ngwerere Health Centre in Kapwayambale Ward of Chongwe District has advanced.
The facility, which is being constructed at a cost of K992,000, through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), is expected to reduce transportation costs incurred by residents in the ward as well as some surrounding communities.
Ngwerere Health Centre-in-Charge, Kennedy Mulenga said the mortuary will meet the demand for the much needed services in the area.
Mr Mulenga said the health facility services a large catchment population which accesses the services from other health facilities located in Lusaka District.
Meanwhile, Chongwe Municipal Council Town Clerk, Damson Mukwato, said the Chongwe CDF Committee prioritised the allocation of funds towards the construction of the facility.
