A Catholic Priest in Milenge District has appealed to residents to uphold peace and unity during the ongoing campaign period ahead of the 13th August 2026 General Election.
Father Narasis Sankalimba emphasised the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after the polls, describing it as a cornerstone to national development and social stability.
He said Zambia has earned a reputation as a beacon of peace in the region and urged the people of Milenge to preserve that legacy by conducting themselves responsibly throughout the electoral process.
“As campaigns continue and people move around canvassing for support, it is important that we create a conducive environment where everyone can freely participate in the democratic process without fear or hostility,” he advised.
Father Sankalimba noted that elections should not divide communities, adding that political differences should not be viewed as grounds for enmity among citizens.
