ESTABLISHMENT OF CASSAVA PROCESSING PLANT IN MWINILUNGA ATTRACTS GOVERNMENT’S SUPPORT

Government has pledged support towards the establishment of a cassava processing plant in Chief Chibwika’s Chiefdom in Mwinilunga District of North-Western Province.

The project is aimed at boosting rural industrialisation and creating employment opportunities.

Speaking during a gala dinner organised by the Chief Chibwika Trustee Fundraising Committee, Special Assistant and Advisor to President Hakainde Hichilema for Finance and Investment, Jito Kayumba, praised the traditional leader for championing an economic initiative that complements government’s efforts to create jobs and promote economic growth in rural communities.

Mr Kayumba described the proposed cassava processing plant as an innovative and refreshing development model, capable of unlocking economic opportunities and fostering self-reliance within the chiefdom.

He said government is keen to support such projects because they promote local enterprise, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity at community level,” he said.

Mr Kayumba further called on well-wishers and cooperating partners to contribute towards the noble cause.

And to demonstrate commitment, Mr Kayumba pledged to mobilise K180,000 through cooperating partners to support the project.

The fundraising committee is seeking to raise K2.5 Million required to establish the processing plant.

Over K900, 000 was raised in pledges during the event and K63, 000 collected in cash.
