Parliament has ratified the appointment of the Clerk of the National Assembly, Loveness Mayaka.

United Party for National Development (UPND) Siavonga Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda moved the motion in parliament on the ratification of the Clerk.

Mr Mulunda said the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer for the National Assembly is a very important position in the National Assembly.

He said the adoption of the report of the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Presidential appointment of Mrs Mayaka is crucial, as she is the Principal or Chief Advisor to the Assembly on procedural and administrative matters.

Several MPs from the opposition and executive took turns in scrutinising and endorsed Mrs Mayaka’s appointment.
