GOVERNMENT has intensified efforts to sustain public health responses in Northern Province.
This follows the outbreak of cholera in Mpulungu District.
Zambia National Public Health Institute senior scientific officer Motola Sianga says government has activated a coordinated response targeting high-risk districts such as Mbala, Mpulungu and Nsama.
Speaking when he called on Mbala District administration Dr, Sianga explained that the entry point for the response is through District Commissioners’ offices, with strong collaboration among provincial health teams and local leadership structures.
“Cholera outbreaks are often associated with the rainy season, and it is important that we sustain our response mechanisms. This includes continuous surveillance, community sensitisation and improved sanitation practices,” he said..
And Mbala District Administrative Officer Gilson Chanda, commended health officers in the district for their commitment to controlling the disease.
