CHONGWE District Commissioner Evans Lupiya has disclosed that government will soon commence constructing modern toilets at Nyanshishi Primary School, using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Dr Lupiya said this during a District Disaster Management Committee meeting held in Chongwe.
He explained that the development follows the collapse of pit latrine toilets at the school during the 2025 – 2026 rainy season.
The District Commissioner underscored the urgency of the project, noting the school population having over 700 pupils.
Dr Lupiya said the project, estimated to cost over K1 Million, will include the construction of two modern ablution blocks, for both boys and girls, with each block comprising 7 toilets and shower facilities.
“We will have two modern blocks, one catering for boys and the other for girls. There is a need to commence the works as soon as possible,” he said.
