A 37-year-old man of Zimba District has been arrested in connection with the theft of cattle valued at K13,000, while another suspect is still on the run.
According to a statement issued by Southern Province Commanding Officer, Mr Moono Namalongo, the incident was reported to Zambia Police in Kalomo District on April 11, 2026, by Doombe Mwatafuma of Simundivwi village in Chief Simwatachela’s area..
He explained that the complainant’s son had secured the animals in a kraal on the evening of April 9, but discovered them missing the following morning.
“The son followed footprints from the kraal up to Dabali School area, where he found Effetty Kanini in possession of the white ox,” Mr Namalongo stated.
He said members of the public assisted in apprehending the suspect, who was found driving the animal.
Mr Namalongo disclosed that the suspect later admitted to selling the other stolen ox to an accomplice who is currently on the run.
