THE Department of Community Development in Nakonde District in Muchinga Province has procured 10 hammer mills and 10 maize shellers for farmers under the Food Security Pack (FSP) programme recoveries.

Nakonde District Community Development Officer, Beatrice Munshya said the equipment was bought using funds recovered from farmers who earlier received inputs under FSP.

Ms Munshya said this during a Food Security Pack Committee meeting held in Nakonde district.

She stated that the money was recovered from various Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs) across the 15 wards of the district.

“We are happy that the beneficiaries are paying back and this has enabled us to buy equipment that will help our farmers,” she said.

And the Food Security Pack Committee Chairperson Purity Wasamumu emphasised that beneficiaries should be properly trained on how to handle the equipment before it is handed over to them.
