THE North-Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NWCCI) has welcomed Cabinet’s approval of extended business and operating hours to allow business houses, markets and bus stations to run on a 24-hour basis.
This is aimed at maximising productivity, enhancing competitiveness and creating inclusive economic opportunities across all sectors of the economy.
Chamber President Amos Kapi described the pronouncement as timely and long overdue, noting that the move has the potential to transform the business environment and improve service delivery in the province and the country at large.
Mr Kapi said in Solwezi, that extended business hours will provide consumers with increased convenience, flexibility and accessibility especially for those with demanding work schedules.
Meanwhile, North Western Police Commissioner Brighton Siwale disclosed that following the government’s announcement to extend the business Operating hours to 24/7, the police in the province is ready to provide adequate security measures like foot and motorised patrols will be implored to reduce the crime rate.
