THE Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) has reaffirmed enhanced collaboration between government and the private sector to improve service delivery in Zambia’s health sector.
Speaking during the Inaugural Technical Health Workshop, Director of Public Private Dialogue (PPDF) Elintina Mwenda who read a speech on behalf of Director General Andrew Chipwende, said dialogue platforms are key to identifying and addressing barriers affecting the private health sector.
Mr Chipwende noted that despite the government’s efforts to strengthen the health system through investments and policy reforms, private sector participation remains limited due to regulatory and operational challenges.
He cited issues such as complex licensing procedures, high compliance costs and weak coordination among institutions as major obstacles hindering efficiency in the sector.
Mr Chipwende has since urged private sector players and civil society organisations to actively contribute innovation, expertise and investment to support the country’s health system.
Meanwhile, Healthcare Federation of Zambia Chairperson Shailen Desai said the private sector is ready to support national development and address existing operational challenges.
