OVER 1000 FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM FISP WETLANDS FARMING

OVER 1000 beneficiaries are targeted to benefit inputs under the Food Security Pack 2026/27 wetlands farming season in Kazungula District in Southern Province.

District Community Development Officer, Nalukui Lubasi disclosed that the FSP wetlands implementation program for 2026/27 farming season will only cater for three CWACS across the district which will see 343 targets (beneficiaries) per CWAC in each selected ward that will be identified.

Speaking during a District Food Security Pack (DFSP) committee meeting held at the Kazungula Town Council Lodge, it came to light that anytime soon, the district is expected to receive the farming inputs under the wetlands farming program.

She said the program is usually implemented between the months of March and August targeting farmers in areas with available water sources so that they can achieve the desired results.

“We are expecting to receive 50 kilograms by 1,030 compound D fertilizer, 25 kilograms by 1,030 agricultural lime, 50 kilogram by 1,030 urea fertilizer, five kilograms by 500 early maturing white maize seed and five kilograms by 530 hybrid maize seed fortified with vitamins A, medium maturing variety,” Ms Lubasi stated.
