Lusaka, June 11, 2025, ZANIS— The United Kingdom (UK) Minister for Africa, Lord Collins of Highbury is expected to visit Zambia from June 11th to 13th, 2025.

In a statement issued to ZANIS by the British High Commission Communications Unit, Lord Collins’ visit aims to reaffirm commitment to the UK-Zambia Green Growth Compact.

The statement disclosed that the flagship agreement targets £2.5 billion of UK private investment into Zambia, supporting job creation and economic growth in both countries.

ZANIS reports that the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Rebecca Terzeon confirmed the visit adding that it is testament to the strength of the UK-Zambia partnership over the years and the commitment to a continued strong partnership and shared prosperous, sustainable future.

The statement read in part that the visit closely follows the participation of Zambian Minister of Energy, Mr Makozo Chikote, in the recent International Summit on the Future of Energy Security in London.

The statement explained that Zambia’s rich natural resources position the country as an important player in the global clean energy transition.

“The Minister will visit Zambia Sugar, owned by Associated British Foods, and Kaonga Mini Hospital, two standout examples of responsible UK investment driving inclusive growth and improved public services for Zambian communities,” the statement included.

Lord Collins will meet senior members of the Zambian Government to deepen UK- Zambia cooperation in key areas including economic growth, investment partnership, renewable energy and poverty reduction.

The statement also indicated that in order to further deepen trade ties, the UK has appointed Mr Calvin Bailey, who has Zambian heritage as the new Trade Envoy to Zambia.

It explained that the appointment reflects the growing ambition on both sides to expand trade and investment between the UK and Zambia.

The statement further added that Lord Collins will also meet nutrition experts, to understand the challenges to tackling malnutrition and support the UK can provide, as well as civil society leaders.
