KAFUE MP CALLS FOR QUICK COMPLETION OF SCHOOLS

Kafue Member of Parliament Miriam Chonya has appealed to the Ministry of Education to expedite completion of Chikupi and Soloboni Secondary Schools, supported by the World Bank, to meet the growing demand for secondary school places in the district.

Speaking at the handover of 50 classrooms at Nagongwe Combined School, Ms. Chonya said completing the schools would reduce long distances covered by learners and ease pressure on existing facilities.

She credited this year’s strong examination results to the free education policy, coupled with government’s technical support, financing, and leadership.

Ms. Chonya urged the Ministry to prioritize finishing works, particularly at Chikupi Day Secondary School, where 20 staff housing units remain unoccupied despite being over 90 percent complete.

She emphasized government’s commitment to education and called on stakeholders to support quality learning.

She observed that through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), classroom blocks have been built, infrastructure rehabilitated and desks procured to create a conducive learning environment.

“In Kafue, part of our CDF has gone towards classroom construction, teachers’ accommodation, desks, and sanitation facilities. Education has received a significant allocation,” she said.
