62 YEAR-OLD MAN DIES DURING ALLEGED SEXUAL ENCOUNTER

A 62-year-old man has died in Mpongwe District on the Copperbelt Province during an alleged sexual encounter with a woman at a named guest house.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi, has confirmed the incident to ZANIS.

Mr Yuyi has identified the deceased as Shonge Sinalinga of Luanshya District.

He explained that the deceased checked into the guest house on 24th January, 2026, around 15:00 hours with a female counterpart identified as Pamela Chiwala, aged 50, also of Luanshya.

Mr Yuyi added that the deceased complained of insufficient air circulation in his room and that the receptionist was alerted of his body by her workmates.

The Provincial Police Commissioner narrated that the deceased was found lying naked facing upwards and was clothed by the lodge staff.

“When she reached the room, she found a deceased naked body, and she called male workmates who helped to dress him in a boxer, whilst Pamela Chiwala was scared and wanted to escape, but she was stopped by the person who later reported the matter to Masaiti Police Station,” he disclosed.

“The body was inspected, and no physical injuries were seen as it was lying facing upwards clad in a boxer,” Mr Yuyi indicated.

He said the body was since deposited at St Theresa’s Mission Hospital Mortuary, while the female counterpart has since been detained at Masaiti Police Station to assist with investigations.
