TEN CONTRACTORS BENEFIT FROM LUSAKA–NDOLA PROJECT

Central Province Minister, Mwabashike Nkulukusa says ten local contractors in the region have benefitted from the ongoing Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway road project.

In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Nkulukusa said the road project, being undertaken by the Micro Ocean Consortium Limited (MOIC), has created job opportunities for the local contractors in the province.

He indicated that once completed, the project is expected to boost business among people residing along the dual carriageway.

“I am happy to confirm that ten local contractors have so far benefitted from the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway road project in Central Province. This is a very important economic road with so many benefits,” Mr Nkulukusa said.

He stated that the upgrading of the Lusaka-Ndola Road into a dual carriageway is testament of the government’s commitment to transform the country’s road infrastructure.

Mr Nkulukusa urged the contractors in the road sector to deliver quality works in order for them to continue benefiting from the subcontracting component of projects and contribute to job creation.

He observed that local contractors stand to benefit more as more roads in the province are earmarked for upgrade to bituminous standard.

Mr Nkulukusa assured the people in the region of continued development under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration.

He said the year 2026 will see a number of roads worked on in all the 11 districts, especially feeder roads.

He revealed that the road upgrade project will be implemented in Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi, Chisamba, and Chibombo Districts under the first phase.
