The Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), the country’s largest news distributor, has underscored the importance of equipping its media staff with modern media management tools through a comprehensive training programme.
During the five-day Social Media Management Training held in Chongwe District, ZANIS Director Loyce Saili emphasised the significance of the training for the institution’s growth.
Ms Saili urged the officers to make the most of the opportunity to improve their skills and contribute to the organisation’s development.
In her remarks, Ms Saili commended the staff for their dedication and resilience over the past three years amid ongoing media evolution.
Ms Saili highlighted that the ZANIS social media team should leverage the training to better interpret government policies, projects, and programmes being rolled out countrywide.
“I am happy that where we are today is not where we were three years ago,” she stated, reflecting on the progress made.
Ms Saili also pointed out that ZANIS has a solid foundation, with presence in all 116 districts across the country.
She further revealed that the organisation is collaborating with the Smart Zambia Institute to rebrand and enhance the functionality of its website.
The training session is set to be officially opened by the Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana.
The initiative aims to boost the capacity of ZANIS staff in adapting to the rapidly changing media landscape and to strengthen the organization’s role as a key information provider in Zambia.
