A civic leader in Senga Hill Constituency has praised farmers in the district for recording a maize bumper harvest.

Chozi Ward Councillor Jackson Chama in Senga Hill District said the area has continued to record bumper harvests.

Mr Chama explained that the area recorded a bumper harvest during the 2023/2024 farming season despite some areas experiencing floods.

He said this in an interview with ZANIS in Senga Hill District.

Mr Chama noted that the ward has this year recorded another bumper harvest this marketing season, as can be seen by the stocks of maize at FRA depots.

He thanked the government for increasing the floor price from K330 last marking season to K340 this year.

The civic leader has since encouraged farmers to take their produce to the FRA in order to contribute to the national food basket.

Mr Chama disclosed that the increment will motivate farmers who have taken farming as a lucrative business venture.
